As a space dedicated to the promotion and activation of artistic and cultural practices, TRAMA, ESTÚDIO DE ARTES IMPRESSAS has developed an artist residency programme entitled MONTRA. This is an exhibition space where small curatorial projects will be presented on a quarterly basis, showcasing the work developed by artists at Trama.
Each MONTRA project is overseen by Trama, and its curation may be carried out either by Trama itself or by invited individuals or organisations, who will work in collaboration with each selected artist. For each opening, an exhibition leaflet about the project and the artist will be produced, and additional events may also take place, such as talks, presentations, publication launches, among others. Each opening also marks the beginning of the development and production process for the following MONTRA. In this way, each project will have three months for development and three months for exhibition. The space dedicated to Montra within the studio comprises the entire entrance area; however, it is not limited to this space and may also extend to other areas of the studio.
Zarathustra’s Vorrede
“You great star, what would your happiness be had you not those for whom you shine? For ten years ago you have climbed to my cave: you would have tired of your light and of the journey had it not been for me and my eagle and my serpent. But we wait for you every morning, took your overflow from you, and blessed you for it.”
Von den drei Verwandlungen
“Of three metamorphoses of the spirit I tell you: how the spirit becomes a camel; and the camel, a lion; and the lion, finally, a child.”
Von den Hinterweltlern
“This world, eternally imperfect, the image of an eternal contradiction, an imperfect image a drunken joy for its imperfect creator: thus the world once appeared to me.
Thus I too once cast my delusion beyond man, like all the afterworldly. Beyond man indeed?”
Vom Lesen und Schreiben (Schwarz)
“I would believe only in a god who could dance. And when I saw my devil I found him serious, thorough, profound, and solemn: it was the spirit of gravity-through him all things fall.”
Vom Baum am Berge
“But it is with man as it is with the tree. The more he aspires to the height and light, the more strongly do the his roots strive earthward, downward, into the dark, the deep – deep into evil.”
Von den Predigern des Todes
“Everywhere the voice of those who preach death is heard; and the earth is full of those to whom one must preach death. Or “eternal life”-that is the same to me, if only they pass away quickly.”
Von tausend und Einem Ziele
“A thousand goals have there been so far, for there have been a thousand peoples. Only the yoke for the thousand necks is still lacking: the one goal is lacking. Humanity still has no goal.”
Von der Nächstenliebe
“You crowd around your neighbor and have fine words for it. But I say unto you: your love of the neighbor is your bad love of yourselves. You flee to your neighbor from yourselves and would like to make a virtue out of that: but I see through your “selfless-ness.’”
Vom Wege des Schaffenden
“Lonely one, you are going the way of the creator: you would create a god for yourself out of your seven devils.”
