ESTÚDIO TRAMA DE ARTES IMPRESSAS

TIAGO DE SÁ

An artist with a degree in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon in 2011, and a Master’s degree in the same field with a dissertation entitled “Notes on Sculpture and Nature” (2013). His professional practice is situated at the intersection of the visual arts and cultural production, extending also into the fields of cinema and television within the art department.

In 2024, he took part in the founding of Trama Riscada – Associação de Artes Impressas as a founding member, assuming the role of treasurer and also being responsible for the creation of the association’s graphic identity. This marked the beginning of an artistic exploration and experimentation at the intersection between printmaking techniques and sculpture, where the two-dimensionality of the printed image engages in dialogue with the three-dimensionality of the sculptural object, developing a relationship that expands the expressive possibilities of both media and promotes new forms of visual, material, and conceptual construction.

Since 2018, he has worked regularly as an assistant set decorator on feature films and television series, collaborating with directors such as João Maia, Jorge Paixão da Costa, Vicente Alves do Ó, Diogo Costa Amarante, and Tomás Portella, among others, over the past decade. Within this context, he has progressively integrated printmaking techniques into film production within the art department, having had the opportunity to create and produce graphic scenic elements and props.

Between 2018 and 2021, he worked as a mould-maker potter at the Viúva Lamego tile factory. Alongside this, he participated in various artistic production projects with Gabriel Abrantes and Alexandre Estrela, as well as in exhibition logistics.

He has undertaken artistic residencies in Portugal and Spain, namely at Projecto Pontes (Feital), La Fragua (Belalcázar), Pé-de-Cabra (Lisbon), and Val das Fontes (Castelo Branco). In 2014, he was part of a project distinguished in the Jovens Criadores awards.
